Historically, France has undergone many events though they had not been peaceful, where its development is concerned. Mainly the country’s religion has always played the main role in developing of the French nation and its people.
In the past eras, there has been religious wars between different forces the Protestants and the Catholics in France and during this war the nations of Europe, such as English, German, and Spanish fought for power and recognition of their religious believe.
Later this great war continued as the War of the Three Henrys, during which Henry de Guise was killed by Henry III. As Henry de Guise was the leader of Catholic league, his comrades assassinated Henry III in return. The next king was also Henry III, but of Navarre, and well-known as the king Henry IV, singed the Edict of Nantes (1598). The new beginning of the religious conflict was continued by Cardinal de Richelieu who forced to disarm the army of the Protestants in 1627.
The monarchy and all questions concerning the power has been the other important problem in the life of France, in its history. The most significant periods in its past is the Second Empire by Napoleon, during which time France became one of the most powerful countries in Europe. It successfully expanded and provided its colonialism to Asia and Africa at this time. The influence of France in some regions of those places still remains. When the time of Napoleon ended, the monarchy was restored, but very soon overthrown again.
France today, remains to be one of the powerful countries in the world. Due to its economic and military forces France continues to have influence on its previous colonies in the other parts of the world. It also has the fourth-powerful economy in the world, letting ahead such countries, ie. the USA, Japan and Germany. The heavy industrial production in France is at good quality as well as its agricultural developments.
